We are called to be joyful creatures. We want to smile and laugh. Our whole being, physical and spiritual, feels better when it is happy than when it is grumpy.
God isn’t expecting us to spend the day in severe, anguished supplication. He doesn’t want to be around you when you’re a grouch any more than the rest of us do. Smile. Laugh. Hug. Tell jokes. Watch a little dog chase its tail. Spend at least one part of every day doing something that feels good deep in your bones.
Science says joyful people live longer. God says, “Duh.” Be joyous.
