My wife and I are just married. Just married to the one we have loved for 36 years. To the only one either of us ever shared a bed with, raised children with, budgeted with, or cried with.
We are not wealthy. We are not wise. We are not many, many things. We are just married.
We hold hands. We always have. At sixteen, our high school friends laughed. At 30, our children rolled their eyes. At 52, we hold hands. Our children are glad we do. We are just married.
“Since God created man and woman, their mutual love becomes an image of the absolute and unfailing love with which God loves man. It is good, very good, in the Creator’s eyes.”-Catechism of the Catholic Church.
We are just married.
